Notes - Thomas Drake Strong was born in Twillingate, Newfoundland. He married Ruth Hunter on 18 October 1867. He died in Indianapolis, Indiana on 2 May 1912 and was buried at Crown Hill Cemetery.
According to Thomas Drake Strong's obituary "He, with his parents and other members of the family, left Newfoundland for the United States in October 1856, and located in Aurora Jan. 1, 1857".
Thomas Strong served in the Union Army during the Civil War. He was a member of the 26th Indiana Infanty, Company K, under Captain Junker. He enlisted as a Private on 30 August 1861. He reenlisted on 1 February 1864. He was mustered out, as a Corporal on 22 June 1865. He filed, from Indiana, for an "invalid" class pension on 16 Nov 1891, application #1071518, certificate #893508.
