• Notes

  It's noted in the Strong Family Bible that George and Fred were twins, but no birth date is given. If they were twins then there is a conflict with their estimated birth dates. George died on 6 May 1896, supposedly at age 69 (giving an estimated birth date of 1827). According to the 1900 US Census for Gloucester Fred was born in March 1829. They were from Jenkins Cove (Twillingate). Lovell's 1871 Directory for Twillingate lists George Strong, Fisherman. The probate record for a George Strong of Twillingate listed in the Acts Book, volume 6, folio 127, probated in 1907 mentions George James Strong of St. John's. I believe this refers to his son James George Thomas Strong.
