From the Sept. 11, 1911 issue of the Twillingate Sun - Henry Rowsell was master of the 44 ton Rosalie...insured for $495.00 under the Notre Dame Mutual Insurance Club.
In 1921, Henry was a Methodist and a fisherman living on Rowsell's Island. Never married.
From the diary of Arthur William Rowsell, Leading Tickles - Sep 19 1907: "Wind NE. An awful heavy gale but decreasing to a fair breeze at night. A terrible sea running. The "Rescue" broke from her moorings last night - at 12.30 drifting over on Wards Island, breaking to pieces. A most fearful thing. Henry losing all of his schooner belongings. Trap & lots of other things. The "Portia" came from Pilley's Island but must have had a rough time." Henry Rowsell, just back from the Labrador with his whole summer's fish plus all his belongings still onboard, looses everything!
The following is Rev. Robert Smith's notes for that day: Sept. 19, 1907, Thursday: Woke up this morning to find Henry Rowsell ' s schooner a total wreck, drifted away towards Island, no help, sea mountains high, such a storm not known for years. Wind dropping and at night sea going back a little, went to visit the homes at night. Portia came along, an awfully rough time, anchored for all night in the tickle.
