Notes - Diary of Arthur William Rowsell, entry for April 21, 1917, says that Walter Rowsell was killed in Action during World War I.
A record was found at Rooms showing that Walter Bernardo Rowsell enlisted in the First Newfoundland Regiment on Aug 13, 1917, and reported his father was Israel Rowsell. He was 19 years 8 months old at that time.
Walter Bernardo Rowsell is listed in the Canadian Great War Project (https://canadiangreatwarproject.com/person.php?pid=130126) where his cause of death is not given, but it is assumed he died in the war.

Served in war and was wounded in France, lived in Corner Brook at the time of his death. A note in Rowsells of Newfoundland (Facebook group) mentions that he lived on Caribou Road, Corner Brook, where my own Rowsell grandparents lived.
Birthday Book says born Sep 23 1896.
