- BLACKWOOD-THOMAS, Eliza - 92, Bedford, died August 29, 2004, in The Berkley,
Bedford. Born in Bonavista Bay, NL, she was a daughter of the late Issac and
Theresa (Rowsell) Barbour. She was employed in the retail industry for many
years. She was a member of the Margaret Rose Club and a long-time member of
the Newfoundland Club. She was a loving mother, grandmother and
great-grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband, Gordon Thomas;
daughters, Molly (Ray) Mootrey, Kitchener, Ont.; Elizabeth "Betty" (Jim) Donald, Fall River; Patricia "Pat" (George) Green, Red Island, Cape Breton; June (Peter) Grimes, St. John's, NL; Beryl (Basil) Worthman, St. John's, NL; Sue (Brendan) Dunfee, Lower Sackville; sons, William "Bill" (Joan) Blackwood, Lower Sackville; Wayne (Valerie) Blackwood, Windsor Junction; Gerry (Darlene) Blackwood, Lower Sackville; Jim (Carol) Blackwood, Tantallon; daughter-in-law, Roseann Blackwood, Lower Sackville; sister, Minnie (Clarence) Pugsley, Peterborough, Ont.; 31 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Capt. Baxter Blackwood; sons, Robert, David and Junior; brothers, Charlie, Wes, William; sister, Molly. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., where funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Pat Malin officiating. Remains to be transferred to Barretts Funeral Home, St. John's, NL, where visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday and funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, St. John's, NL. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
