  A small man. Age at death: 66 years. Had a grandson, Lloyd Rowsell, who states his grandfather was a brother to Mark. He was apparently with Mark when he discovered the bodies from the "Swansea" on Gull Island in 1867. A Benjamin Rowsell listed as a fisherman in Lovell's 1871 Business Directory for Leading Tickles. From Twillingate Sun for 1894: His Excellency the Governor, in Council, has been pleased to appoint Messrs. Thomas ROWSELL, Benjamin ROWSELL, George MARSH, Noah CHIPPETT, Joseph HACKETT, John WARD, Uriah MARTIN and THOMAS M. SILK, to be a Board of Road Commissioners for Leading Tickles, Bay of Notre Dame.
