| 854 | Greenland notes: (May or may not be related to Harry) From: jncwilson98@yahoo.com (http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/ROC.2ACI/285.1.1) Gus Greenland was indeed related to the Greenlands that I speak of. Gus' great-grandfather was also my grandfather's great-grandfather. Isaac Greenland (whom I refer to as the original George, b. 1797) came over to Newfoundland in the 1820's from England and settled in Conception Bay North, finally settling in Cold East Point, now known as Coley's Point. He married Rachel Russell and they had 11 children. Gus' parents were Stephen and Mary (nee French). His grandparents were Henry and Anna (some say Hannah) (nee Mercer). My mother, Elizabeth, was a Greenland. My grandfather is Cecil (wife Grace); he will be 98 years old in October. My great-grandfather was John. My great-great grandfather was Stephen (wife Elizabeth) and then, of course, George and Rachel were my Great x3 Grandparents. I have the tree traced back as far as him. I am missing a few members and am hoping to complete it. Do you have any info regarding Gus and May Reynolds family? Did they have children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren? I would love to know, at least to be connected to someone who could answer my questions. Thanks in advance. You could also try my email address. | Greenland, Harold (Harry) (I841)

| 866 | Harold Greer came to Chesterville in 1932 and, in 1935, he brought his bride to an apartment in half of the Fisher Block in which he also ran a store and delivered bred for the Canada Bread Company. In 1935 they bought [a] lot next to the Texaco garage from Mrs. C.J. Soule (for $175). There they built a two-storey house which was burned to the ground in a941. The family escaped in night attire from the burning building. They then lived in an apartment over Lannin's garage until their new home was built. Harold gave up the store and went into the trucking business with a modest beginning with the CPR express delivery, including the mail delivery to the Post Office. This led to general trucking and with his PCV licence (1951), he trucked for Nestle's, Domtar and furniture moving. When he retired, he had a fleet of seven trailers and three tractors, selling out to Peter Konick of Finch. Wilma, his wife, worked with him as secretary, was Past President of the W.I. St. Andrew's Ladies' Aid, Women's Missionary Society, played the organ in church for 30 years and for 21 years was secretary of Signet Chapter No. 272, Finch. The family lived at 29 Prescott Street, St. John's but before that lived somewhere "in the country" where they had a garden, and chickens. From her letters to Reg Rowsell, the following is learned: She had an uncle who had a country residence. This uncle had a son. She had an auntie Nan who died June 22, 1941 and was buried June 24. - Nan Taylor She also had an aunt Polly. Uncle Jack's wife died in week of Friday July 4, 1941. 3 weeks after her father Edwin died. Uncle Jack was a captain at one time. On Friday July 4 (1941?), a relative of Mary Field died, buried on 6th or 7th. (This relative may have been Mrs. James taylor, daughter of Rev. John Ball) Mrs. Pike (Topsail) was a distant relative of Mary Field. Her good friends before marriage were Belle Roberts (Simpson?), Eleanor Mews (Maddock?) and Margaret ? | Field, Ruby Belinda (I11)
