A letter exists from a Mrs. Halpenny, Norwood Grove, Man. 235 Endfield. May 12th 1912.

My Dear Nephew
It is over a month since I received your welcome letter. I should and would have answered it before, only I was waiting to hear from a man that was acquainted with your Mother's people. He used often to come to our house, but he does not come now so often as we are not on the street that he passes on. So I went to see him last week. I would have went to see him sooner only I was housecleaning and too tired to go out in the evening. I do bve a little lazy some times. Mr. Argue gave me the name of a first cousin of yours, on your mother's side, Albert Bobier. His Father was your mother's Brother, and is living on the old home stead of your MOther's parents. They are all dead. Your aunts and unkles they were all born in Ontario, and of Irish decent. THe only relation of your mothers that I knew was a sister she used to be in Ottawa to see your mother. I only saw her twice after your mother's death, the day after the death, and once your Father and you and I went up to Ashton to see her. I think your Mother died in March and you were two years old in the next month, April, your Mother was buried in Ashton, Ont. She died of consumption. I think that Granma Cochrane must be one of your step-mothers people. I never heard of them. I th ink if you will, write to your cousin Albert Bobier, His address Munster P.O., Ont. Mr. Argue said he heard of one of your unkles John Bobier he was living in Ottawa the last he heard of him he said all tghe Bobiers were well to do people, and respectable. I think they were farmers. As to the year of your birth, I think that the bible record is right, as you were two years old when your mother died. I kept house for your father two years, till when he got married. It lacked one month of two years when he got married. Then I was married the next September 1874. I think that is all the questions that I can answer that you asked for. If at any time I hear of anything that is interesting to you, I will tell you another time as I hope to keep track of you for the future and hope to swee you in Norwood.

Death record of Francis Alfred Booth. Died at 28 B Street, Manchester, N.H. where he had lived for 18 years. Had he moved to the US in 1912?
Widowed at the time of his death. Worked for the Scott Oil Co.

Wedding Bells!
Gower Street United Church was the scene of a pretty wedding last evening when Ruby Belinda, daughter of Mrs. and the late Edward Field, became the bride of Rev. Reginald Norman Rowsell, B.A., the ceremony being performed by Rev. D. K. Burns, B.A., Ph.D. The bride, who was attired in a dainty gown of white satin with train, and carried a bouquet of June roses, carnations, baby's breath and asparagus fern, was attended by Miss Eleanor Maddock and her sister Lorna who wore dresses of opera blue and lemon organza with matching head-dress, and whose bouquets consisted of June roses and sweet peas. The groomsman was Rev. C. E. Burke, B.A., a classmate at college, and now Y.M.C.A. supervisor in the Royal Canadian Navy. The father-giver was Mr. B.R. Taylor, cousin of the bride and Mr. A. Wiseman of Little Bay Islands ushered. The bride's mother wore black and rose with corsage of carnations and sweet peas. During the signing of the register Mrs. W.A. Dawe, sister of the bride, sang "I'll Walk With You" with Mrs. F. Wylie at the organ. Following the ceremony, the wedding party drove to Woodstock where supper was served and the usual toasts duly and hearily honoured. The bride and groom leave by this afternoon's express for Corner Brook on a visit to the latter's parents, before taking up residence at Bell Island, where the groom is pastor of the United Church.

VETERANS CALLED AWAY

Richard Hayward Taylor

The Angel of Death has been busy, and although the year is but a fortnight old, several veterans have been called to their reward.

At 4 o'clock yesterday, Richard Hayward Taylor passed away, at Carbonear. Few men in Carbonear were better known. Sprung from a stock of successful fish-killers for fifty years or more he journeyed summer after summer to the Labrador Coast, where, with Cape Charles as his headquarters, he did business on the great deep, adding, both directly and indirectly, to the wealth and prosperity of his well loved land. It is now nearly 20 years since he withdrew from the active prosecution of the fisheries, but his later years have been full of other activities, notably in connection with the Methodist church, of which he was a leader, a trustee, a steward and an devoted member.

'Skipper Rich' as he was affectionately called by almost everyone who knew him, was one of a class fast dying out, that good old Planter class-which has for generations maintained the best traditions of the Colony for hospitality, fearlessness and endurance. He came from a race of vi-kings, and proved himself well worthy of the kinship.

His wife, like himself, attained to a green old age, passing away a few short years ago. Two daughters and five sons survive,Mrs. Alfred Penney, wife of Judge Penney, of Carbonear, Mrs. Pike, wife of Captain James Pike of Carbonear, formerly of the "Flora", Captain Hayward Taylor, of the Cordeelia, Mr. Hedley Taylor, of Ayre & Sons, Mr. Arthur Taylor, organist of the Carbonear Methodist church, and of Rorke & Sons' staff, and Mr. Ernest W. Taylor, the popular General Freight Agent of the Reid Nfld. Co's Railway. There are also a large number of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives, the only surviving sister being Mrs. Lavinia Pike, widow of Capt. Josiah Pike, of this city.

Mr. Taylor had reached the age of about 82, and has fallen before the scythe of Time as a shock of ripe corn before the blade of the harvester. His loved ones will miss him, his friends will miss him, his native town will miss him, but his Master's call came to him as no surprise, for in His service he had lived and died, and for him death had been robbed of it evary sting.

The funeral takes place tomorrow and will no doubt be largely attended by relatives and friends, in this city and elsewhere.

From: DAILY NEWS JANUARY 22 1907
On Saturday afternoon, the mortal remains of Richard Hayward Taylor of Carbonear, were laid beside those of the late Mrs. Taylor, in the Methodist cemetery, there. A large concourse of relatives and friends from Carbonear, St. John's and elsewhere testified to the deep respect and esteem in which the deceased had been held during his long and useful life. The service, in the house and at the grave side, was conducted by the Rev. T. B. Darby, B. A. and E. Baines. The pall-bearers were selected from Mr. Taylor society class, of which some had been members for over 30 years. Mr. Taylor influence in Carbonear was always an influence for good, and he will be sincerely mourned.

June 7 - Rev. William Marshall FIELD, at Caribou, 43? (could be 48)

If he was 43 at time of death, he would have been born in 1874, and therefore 5 at the time of his mother's will. If 48, then in 1869, and 10 at time of his mother's will in 1879.
