1717 Stonepics has both Rex and Lillian buried at NL014 -- somewhere in Baytona, Lewisporte, Birchy Bay, area.

Alternate DOB 1902 Son of Eleazar and Susan Butler. Resided Pilley's Island, 1921.

From a letter written by Blanche (Anstey) Rowsell to her son, Reginald Rowsell, in Sept 1930, it appears that Rex and Lillian lived in Deer Lake.
"Bax stayed with Rex and Lill one night at Deer Lake. They are alright. Rex works in the company store there now. They have a little girl, but mother still has the little boy."

From the recollection of Benjamin Rowsell, the children of Lilian and Rex Butler were:
Neville (a Salvation Army officer who died)
Grayson
Graham
Betty
Violet?

1738 Tentative son of Edgar J. Sweetlane

Married 1: Jessie Unknown (bc. Sep 1896, Botwood)
Married 2: Lucy Whyatt
Sweetland, Edgar J. (I2484)

1739 Tentative son of William. Naming pattern of children suggests such a
connection, but he could also be the son of Thomas. Salome Martin stated
John, Henry and Mark were brothers.

It should be noted that Rev. Reg Rowsell did not list John as a son of William in his extensive research of this family.

Arthur Rowsell's diary mentions John Rowsell's 80th birthday on August 31, 1903. If this is his uncle, he did not call him such. This seems to be the proof that this John Rowsell was not Mark's brother.
Rowsell, John (I482)

1740 TENTATIVE, based on naming pattern) Roberts, Elizabeth (I1086)

1741 The 1921 Census for Botwood says she was born in August 1884 at Jackson's Arm.

Edwin Aposhian reported her middle name shows as Plowe on some documentation.

Newhook, Minnie Rowe Knight (I298)

1742 The 1921 Census for Fortune Harbour lists the following:
NEWHOOK; Jonas; Fortune Hr; head; Jun 1867; Birtons Pond; Meth; none; m to Bessie
NEWHOOK; Sofiah; Fortune Hr; wife; Jul 1875; Three Arms; RC; none; m to Jonas NEWHOOK

NEWHOOK; Ritia; Fortune Hr; dau; Oct 1906; South West Arm; sch; s dau of Jonas NEWHOOK

MacAlpine's 1898 Business Directory for Green Bay : "NEWHOOK, Jonas, S W Arm, Fish."

Amalie Lewis Tuffin reported "Sophia was a Roman Catholic, as were all of the couple's children."
Newhook, Jonas John (I293)

1743 The 1921 Census for Jackson's Cove says she was born in April 1896.
Edwin Aposhian reported her birth date as April 15, 1893. His source was the Nippers Harbour Methodist Church Archives.
Ruby (Knight) Saunders reported her birth date as April 15, 1896.
Knight, Isa Daisy Snowdon (I424)

1744 The 1921 Census for Purcells Harbour says she was born in August 1858. John Holwell reported she was born in 1861 and died April 19, 1943. Jeans, Rosanna (I487)

1745 The 1935 census for Leading Tickles lists Gilbert living with his wife, Isabella, age 49 yrs. I think this should read his sister, Isabella. n.e.

Assuming it is the same person, his headstone reads: Rowsell, Gilbert 1890 - 1971. Erected by his wife and family. My birth date is therefore incorrect.

Rowsell, Gilbert (I2861)

1746 The biggest of family.

BW: Henry's first two children were born at Rowsell's Island in 1869 and 1872. By 1873, the family had relocated to Lock's Harbour. Descendant, Salome (Martin) Randell of Grand Falls, stated Henry had brothers Mark and John. For this reason I have tentatively attached Henry as a son of William and Martha. Mary Jane Penney, who later married Mark, was a sponsor at the baptism of Henry's daughter, Selina. George Rowsell and his second wife, Rebecca, were also sponsors.

It seems that Henry Rowsell lived at Locke's Harbor. A.W. Rowsell refers to Henry as "Uncle" as he was Mark Rowsell's brother. This will be the Henry Rowsell b C1835 who married Susanna Davis.- R.Collins.

This is the Henry of the story that is told of Mark Rowsell who had a confrontation with some fishermen of the coast of Labrador and was the start of him becoming a light house keeper. I wish we had the whole story.
Rowsell, Henry (I116)

1747 The birth date given in the baptism record was 26 Sep 1841. However, this is 'after' the baptism date, so am assuming the birth date was 1840. May have been earlier.

1749 The children shown below are highly suspect as being all of Ambrose and Ann. Unable to find much information about any of them. We may be fairly certain of Samuel and Josias. And maybe Lydia, but the rest are very iffy.
Birthdate taken from his tombstone.
Churchill, Ambrose (I238)

1750 The couple resided Angel Place, St. John's 1921. No children listed in census.
Son of Timothy William Pike (Oct 1838-) & Harriet Pike (26 Sep 1841-).
